Palestinians End 40-Day Hunger Strike

More than 800 Palestinian inmates ended their 40-day hunger strike after talks of changing some of the prisoners' conditions, the BBC and Reuters reported.

The hunger strike began on April 17 and started with Marwan Barghouti, who protested solitary confinement and detention without trial, which are both regularly applied in Israeli jails.

The hunger strike came to an end on the first day of Ramadan after talks held with the Palestinian Authority and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) to address the issue.
