Joining a roster of some of the most talented fashion designers in the Middle East, Mohanad Kojak will reveal his latest collection, ‘Rage of the Angels’ at Fashion Forward Dubai.
Sponsored by international courier DHL, Kojak is working very hard on his first proper fashion show.
“I see Fashion Forward Dubai as the first step to get recognized regionally and internationally. It puts you, so to say, on a different track where you get to meet the movers and shakers of the fashion industry regionally and internationally,” he said.
The new collection is inspired by genocide: the crime of deliberately destroying a group of people based on race, ethnicity, nationality or religion.
While the collection does not focus on the literal sense of the word, it takes viewers beyond the physical crime and symbolizes the societal sufferings people face at the hands of others, leading to a type of social genocide.
The inspiration behind this collection contrasts with the designer’s last one, which had focused on giving way to the free expression of love and harmony.
The collection is characterized by its unique color palette of red, pink, black and white –colors Kojak does not usually use.
“You have your own world, but it got painted by something different,” Kojak explained.
To symbolize the idea of angels, he used delicate fabrics like lace, tulle and taftan. In addition, the exaggerated sleeves resemble angel wings, drawing back to the theme of his last collection.
