Is Real Madrid’s Winning Streak Over for Good

-

Real Madrid is considered one of the best football clubs in Spain and the world. Established in 1902, the club has seen nothing but success. Many stars have worn its jersey like Roberto Carlos, David Beckham, Cristiano Ronaldo, and Zinedine Zidane; who was also the club’s coach from 2016 to 2018. During this time frame, the team won three UEFA Champions League titles. However, without Ronaldo or Zidane, Real Madrid has been struggling to score or win.

Despite starting off the season at a seemingly high note, the team lost its last four matches against Sevilla, CSKA Moscow, Deportivo Alavés, and Levante and tied with Atletico Madrid. So what caused this dramatic deterioration? Was it Zidane’s departure or Ronaldo’s? Or was it both?

Having a top scorer like Ronaldo is without a doubt an edge over the rest of the teams; he’s one of the best players in the world (if not the best); he doesn’t accept losses and tries his hardest to push his team to victory in every match.

Zidane also acted as the team’s secret weapon; breaking records by winning three consecutive UEFA titles. His decision to leave less than four days after the team’s third consecutive Champion’s League win is obviously not sitting well with the club.

It’s clear that Zidane and Ronaldo were among the main elements behind the team’s success and that Real Madrid will have a hard time coming back to the top again.

The club’s administration made a serious mistake letting go of two stars at the same time and thinking they could proceed without them. Right now they need to sign more skilled goal scorers and work hard to get through this seemingly long hangover.
