How Being an Entrepreneur Completely Changed My Personality

Around this time last year, my friends and I decided to found an online magazine –obviously the one you’re reading this opinion editorial on.

The decision and the implementation of the project took no less than a few days. Being the person who overthinks everything a million times and stresses about every single thing she does, I still don’t understand how I took this decision, or at least how I did it that quickly.

Actually, now that I think of it, if I had over thought it as I usually do, I would have never done any of that. Yes, I am the person whose overthinking ruins everything and who completely refuses to take any risks.

Anyways, now that you have a glimpse of my personality, I’d like to tell you about how it developed throughout this last year, due to becoming an entrepreneur.

In less than a year, I went from the person who hates answering the phone to one that talks to a minimum of 10 clients daily. And by ‘talk’ I mean answer questions, explain stuff and even argue about things.

I went from the person who hates leaving her house –actually, her room– to one who barely has the time to stay at home.

The girl who hated stepping out of her comfort zone now meets new people weekly, tries new places almost daily, and talks to strangers about anything and everything.

I suddenly turned from a person who does not even know the difference between a thousand and a million, to a person who is obliged to deal with taxes, salaries, banks and numbers I never thought I would understand.

The girl who never ever did paper work, left all responsibilities on her parents –even though she was over the age of 20– and the one who was too shy to ask for anything, in no time, now has hundreds of responsibilities and tasks on her plate.

And that is definitely what I’m grateful for the most.

Being an entrepreneur has helped me become the person I’ve always wanted to be, yet always failed to be. It helped me overcome all my fears and insecurities. It has finally turned me into a person who knows how to deal with the world.

And that is way more important than anything: more important than income, position, or anything else.
