1 - Hidden Figures

The movie tackles both gender inequality and racism as it follows a team of female African-American mathematicians who served a vital role in NASA during the early years of the U.S. space program. It stars Taraji P. Henson & Octavia Spencer, need we say more?

2 - Nour by Zap Tharwat & Amina Khalil

A song that did not only empower women, but an entire society.

Through the song, we meet the lead character, Nour, who is a mechanical engineering student who studies and works to support his family after the death of his father. In a plot twist, we find out that Nour is actually a girl, and through the song, we get a glimpse of the stereotypical portrayal of women in the Arab society.

3 - Hurdles ft. Emma Watson

"Women and girls have always faced hurdles, but that's never stopped us. The race is still on. Every day of every year of our lives, but we will cross the finishing line. No one can stop us."

Emma Watson has been working most of her life to shed light on the gender equality issue. One of her many achievements in her role as the UN Women Goodwill Ambassador was through this two-minute short film empowering every woman out there.

4 - Confirmation

"I felt I had to tell the truth. I could not keep silent."

Confirmation is an original HBO Canadian movie Starring Kerry Washington (Olivia Pope). The movie details the three-day trial of Judge Clarence Thomas, who Anita Faye Hill accused of sexual harassment back in 1991.

5 - Ki & Ka

The Indian culture resembles ours when it comes to the expectations of gender roles, the movie Ki & Ka, which translates into "She & He," tackles this topic through a new idea. It follows the life of Kia, a woman who refuses to follow cultural traditions and aspires to climb her career ladder and succeed in her professional life. Then enters Kabir, the son of one of the richest businessmen in India, but he refuses to work with his father and prefers to be a homemaker, as he grew up admiring and respecting his mother, who was a housewife. So when these two meet they figure out that they're a perfect match, and as they get married they defy every tradition, cultural and gender rule written out there‏.

6 - A League of Their Own

Who can ever forget that 90's movie starring Tom Hanks, Geena Davis and Madonna, directed by the outstanding Penny Marshall?

The movie tells the story about the first-ever, all female baseball team called The Rockford Peaches, that was established to entertain people while the men were fighting in WWII.
